Vocational Learning Centre

The Vocational Learning Centre was the main element of our Centenary Appeal. This was introduced to provide the kind of work based training that is relevant for today’s job market, but in a fully supportive environment with the further social and emotional skills that are a key element of our provision.

Courses

We offer a programme of vocational training courses, from BTEC entry level to BTEC level 2 for 14-19 year olds, these courses are:

  •    Construction
  •    Hair and Beauty
  •    Land Based Studies
  •    Motor Vehicle Maintenance

Funds have been raised through our Centenary Appeal to build a specially designed Vocational Learning Centre at our school in Smeeth, near Ashford.  There is a second site, nearer Ashford that provides Motor Vehicle Maintenance training.

Along with the vocational elements these courses have to offer, our experience of working with young people who have learning difficulties means that we are also well equipped to provide support for functional literacy and numeracy.

We can offer placements to non-residential students but with small groups and a high ratio of staff to students, places are limited.
