Foster Carers

Foster care demands unprecedented standards of professionalism and dedication. In return, carers should expect round-the-clock expert support, individual packages of training, and rewards to match.

The new Caldecott Fostering Service meets and exceeds these expectations.

A full member of the British Association of Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) and the Fostering Network, Caldecott really knows and understands those children it is placing for fostering.

Many of them will have spent up to three years at Caldecott. They will have been fully assessed, lived in one of our seven modern and comfortable residential homes, attended our superb on-site school, and accessed our therapy and psychology services.

Fostering is the next stage in this vital process of rebuilding young lives.

Supporting the Foster Carer

Foster carers appointed by Caldecott will enjoy maximum support from the organisation’s team of professionals.
This means……

  • A 24-hour, 365-days-a-year telephone helpline staffed by experienced professionals.
  • A tailor-made package of training, from induction to specialist modules and NVQ.
  • Regular support group meetings, and a “drop-in” service.
  • A detailed and uniquely well-informed Care Plan for each child.
  • Highly competitive rewards, including paid respite care, holiday allowance and insurance.
  • Regular support from a Caldecott social worker, teachers and specialist experts.
  • Formal supervision and support from a supervising social worker with a small and manageable caseload.
  • Hand-over package of support from our residential units, co-ordinated by the supervising social worker.
  • Membership of the Fostering Network.
  • Being part of an organisation which, from direct experience, knows and understands each child.

Our goals are your goals. To help each child feel valued and supported, in a safe environment with clear boundaries and expectations, to develop to their maximum potential.

Caldecott foster carers are part of a professional team helping deliver those aspirations and re-building young lives.
