Australian Minister Pays us a Visit
5th July 2010

The Minister for Families and Communities for the State of South Australia, the Hon Jennifer Rankine MP, recently paid a two-hour fact-finding visit at Caldecott.
Ms Rankine’s department is developing new social care strategies in South Australia, and the minister asked to visit Caldecott during her stay in the UK to discuss the organisation’s model of care, which includes assessment, residential homes, therapy, an on-site school and fostering service for up to 50 children and
young people.
She was welcomed by director of operations Sharon McDermott, who conducted the minister on a guided tour, and briefed her on how Caldecott rebuilds the lives of some of Britain’s most vulnerable children.
Says Caldecott chief executive Clive Lee: “We have been caring for children for almost a century, and we hope that our experience is useful in informing the Minister’s thoughts on social policy in South Australia.”
