Emily Carrick, Master of her Art
3rd March 2010

We would like to congratulate Emily Carrick, a Play Therapist at Caldecott, who has recently been awarded an MA in Non-Directive Play Therapy from the University of York.
Emily’s career at Caldecott started 11 years ago when she worked as a Residential Care Worker in Lacton House. Whilst working her way up to Deputy Manager, Emily undertook a course in therapeutic play which first planted the idea of pursuing a career in Therapy.
After spending two years as a learning mentor in a mainstream primary school, Emily returned to Caldecott in 2006 having made the decision to move into Therapy.
Several years of hard work later and Emily has now completed her Master’s degree receiving praise from Dr. Linnet McMahon, an external examiner, for her dissertation entitled, ‘Non-Directive Play Therapy with Children and Young People in Residential Care’. For those who would like to read the full piece of work, it can be downloaded from the Planned Environment Therapy Trust’s online archive by clicking here.
Clive Lee, Caldecott’s Chief Executive said, “We are all extremely proud of Emily for her achievement. She continues to be a valued member of the Therapy team who do an exceptional job in supporting the care of our children”.

Congratulations to you Emily on your fantastic achievement. You always put the children at the centre of all you do. In the words of Plato:'you can discover more about a person in an hour of play, than a year of conversation.' Well done, my friend.
