Farewell Amanda
27th November 2009

At November’s AGM, the Caldecott Foundation bid farewell to Amanda Ellingworth as she stood down from the Board of Trustees at the end of her 6 year term as Chairman.
Amanda’s former deputy and Caldecott’s new Chairman, Angus Fraser said, “Amanda has given outstanding service to Caldecott as a Trustee for more than 25 years. She has also done an excellent job for 6 years as Chair presiding over an important period of change and development for the Foundation. Her commitment and enthusiasm have been an inspiration as has her determination to always see the very best done for the children and young people in our care.”
Amanda’s retirement is a poignant moment for her as her family’s involvement with Caldecott goes back further than the ‘80’s when her father, the late Lord Brabourne was a long term friend and supporter of the Foundation which was based at his family home of Mersham-le-Hatch for many years.
When asked how she felt about leaving, Amanda said “I have loved my time at Caldecott, especially getting to know so many extraordinary children and young people. I have learnt so much from them about resilience and how, given the right opportunities, they can achieve extraordinary things. I have felt honoured to work alongside so many outstanding staff. Their commitment to work for our children, and what they achieve has been inspirational to me”.
She continued, “As Caldecott approaches its 100th birthday, I am confident that it will continue to develop models of excellent practise, always putting its children and young people at the heart of all it does. I shall miss Caldecott, but look forward to hearing about its future successes, especially the successes of its children and young people. Here's to the next hundred years!”.
Clive Lee, Chief Executive said, “I would like to thank Amanda on behalf of all the staff and children for her limitless energy, commitment and devotion to Caldecott over so many years. It is a testament to her that, during her term as Chairman of the Board, Caldecott has gone from strength to strength. She will be greatly missed”.

There is a small article in the Caldecott Association's newsletter thanking Amanda for her support since it was founded in 2004. She has encouraged and aided in ex Caldecott's contact with, and support of, the Caldecott Foundation.

Amanda has given enormous support to the Caldecott Association, which brings together ex-pupils and staff. We know of the fantastic job she has done at Caldecott and her links with the Association have been an important part of our development.
